Tabernacle 2012 Church-Wide Theme:

"Remembering Our Past, Shaping Our Future"

- Psalm 90: 1-2, 12, 17

1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. 2 Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. 12 Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.  17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands.

Attributed to Moses, Israel's most iconic figure, Psalm 90 finds the poet musing about the eternity of God and the brevity of life. From beginning to end, our lives are spent under God's constant watch. Neither the past nor the future are separated from God's being. Since life is so brief, and its living so laborious, the psalmist desires to be taught how to wisely appropriate the time that is his so it may be regarded as faithful stewardship. The musing concludes with a request for divine favor and assistance to accomplish the work which wisdom brings forth.

The year 2012 is the 90th anniversary year of Tabernacle Community Baptist Church in the city of Milwaukee. Since 1922 successive generations of worshippers have carried the faith of this congregation in work and witness before God and the community. The celebration of this milestone year will remember the faithful stewardship of pioneering members of our church, honoring their sacrifices and lifting their exemplary witness before those to whom they are unknown. The legacy bequeathed to us from them is a sacred trust, and we are responsible for carrying and securing it for generations yet unborn. An important feature of the celebration is the public presentation of the church's ten-year strategic plan for the centennial: Tabernacle 100 & Beyond:  One Church, One Vision, One Voice.  During the year, Tabernacle will host the following events to celebrate the 90th Anniversary:
